| Candidiasis/ Yeast Infection (Candida albicans) Welcome to www.nutritionhelp.com. Did you know that Candida problems can be helped by Nutritional Therapy? In my clinical practice, I have seen it happen time and time again - and now you can receive tailor-made advice online from www.nutritionhelp.com! My name is Erica White. I’m Nutritional Director of Nutritionhelp, a Fellow of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition and an Honorary Fellow of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy. I’m also the author of the “Beat Candida Cookbook”, which has been a special diets best-seller since 1993. I have now retired from clinical practice, but we have set up an online Questionnaire and Report system which can give you all the advice you need, with an optional facility to have contact with one of our associate team of qualified Nutritionists. I’m going to answer a few questions about Candida which I hope might be helpful to you. Q. So, Erica, what exactly is Candida? Candida albicans is a common yeast which is found in every human being in small amounts but, under certain conditions, it grows out of control and migrates from the colon to any other tissue in the body causing many different symptoms, both physical and mental. Particular factors which encourage this to happen include stress, antibiotics and other medications including steroid treatments (and that includes hormonal intervention such as the Pill, HRT or IVF), alcohol, stimulants like tea, coffee, chocolate and coke, and a diet high in refined carbohydrates like white flour, and the enormously high levels of sugar which almost everyone eats in this day and age. As a result, we have a modern epidemic of yeast-related health problems which we have largely brought upon ourselves. Q. What sort of health problems? Almost anything you can think of – digestive and bowel problems like IBS; hormonal problems like PMS; skin problems like acne, eczema and psoriasis; problems with the joints and muscles including arthritis and fibromyalgia; allergies; sinusitis; depression and anxiety - the list goes on and on. Q. So how does Candida cause all these problems? When it proliferates, it changes into a fungal form which is able to break through the intestinal wall leaving it porous, and this enables microbes and particles of incompletely-digested foods to leak into the blood-stream. Not only does this lead to problems of food sensitivity but it also places a heavy load on the immune system, creating a vicious circle as it weakens the body’s fight against Candida and other invaders. It’s not surprising that Candida sufferers often say they ‘feel ill all over', largely because Candida is known to release at least 79 toxins which can enter the bloodstream and cause problems anywhere in the body. Q. How easy is it to get rid of Candida? Unfortunately, fighting Candida is fraught with difficulties because, as it is destroyed, it releases a great many toxins in whichever areas of the body it has colonised so that symptoms seem to be getting worse. In addition, there can be an increase in general aches and pains, digestive problems, woolly-headedness, depression and anxiety. This is known as ‘die-off reaction’ and it needs to be carefully controlled in order to minimise the unpleasant effects. At the same time, it is important to follow nutritional advice for supporting the liver’s detoxification processes. Q. So you can’t just take a course of pills, like an antibiotic? No, I’m afraid not. My own tried and tested approach is an ANTI-CANDIDA FOUR-POINT PLAN
Bringing Candida under control is not easy but, with commitment and perseverance, it can certainly be done. Q. What would you say to someone if they suspect they might have a Candida problem? If you think that what I’ve been saying could apply to you, have a look at www.beatcandidapack.com, where you will find a questionnaire to help you decide the relevance of Candida to your health problems. Then, if you think it’s appropriate, for £25 you can download eight booklets which I’ve written and you will also receive a weekly email from me for the next six months, with further information and encouragement. Wherever you live, you will be sent a post-free copy of my “Beat Candida Cookbook”, and you can also choose to register through this web site for a full online nutritional analysis and report from Nutritionhelp (normally costing £47) for the greatly reduced fee of just £30. If you haven’t considered it before, you may well find that Nutritional Therapy could be very helpful, and a personalised report from Nutritionhelp will give you all the advice you need. Read on www.nutritionhelp.com/quest_more.php how the system works – but if you want to register for a report, don’t forget to order your questionnaire through www.beatcandidapack.com in order to benefit from the reduced fee. Hopefully you will soon find, like many others before you, that your Candida problems are a thing of the past. I wish you well! Erica White, Dip.ION, FBANT
